The key to successful diabetes self-management is education and communication with your healthcare professionals.Parrish Medical Center’s Diabetes Education department provides timely, quality, appropriate, cost-effective care to people with diabetes. You’ll receive excellent care from our highly qualified professionals.

Instruction is offered to all ages, from children to adults with type 1, type 2, gestational diabetes and prediabetes. Participants may be instructed as an inpatient during a hospitalization, or in an outpatient setting. Inpatients often complete their education as an outpatient.

Program features include:
  • One-on-one visits with a registered nurse and a registered dietitian for your individual needs
  • 4-week group class series (2 hours each for total of 8 hours) for comprehensive knowledge of diabetes management. 3-hour (survival skills) group classes (morning or afternoon) for basic knowledge of diabetes management
  • Diabetes Self-Management Support: for follow-up care designed specifically for the individual
  • Diabetes Support Group
